Organise under the sink
The cupboard under the sink is awkward: pipes in the middle, damp risk and products you want out of children's reach. A little planning makes it easy to use.
1. Empty it and check for leaks
Take everything out and look at the pipes and the cupboard floor. If anything is damp, fix the leak before adding storage. A cheap mat or tray on the floor makes future drips easy to spot.
2. Measure around the pipes
- Width on each side of the waste pipe, not just the full width
- Depth in front of the pipe, where you can actually reach
- Height under the trap (the U-bend), which is usually the lowest point
3. Sort before you buy
Group what you keep there: daily cleaning, refills, bin bags, dishwasher items. Throw away empty and dried-out products. Only then decide how many organisers you need.
4. Use the height
Two-tier or stackable organisers on each side of the pipe use space that is otherwise wasted. Pull-out baskets help with deep cupboards. Hooks on the inside of the door are good for cloths and brushes, if the door has room to close.
